Hurricane Katrina's Aftermath
As floodwaters begin to recede from the inundated city, the mayor of New Orleans is doing whatever way to force the residents to leave the city so they could delve a cleanup on the city. The residents needs to evacuate from their home. I personally do not understand why the residents choose to stay in their house. First, you dont have any clean water to drink or perform day to day task. Even if you have enough water supply for the entire month, you still need clean water to take shower or use the bathroom. I read from the newspaper that that might be potential deadly E. coli bacteria. E. coli comes from the human or animal waste from the untreated sewage. If water and food are comtaminated with germs, I don't see how someone can survive more than a week. People that chose to stay in New Orleans need to understand the environment and condition are not safe. The city or health crews need to come in and pump out the deep deluge. Katrina had inundated 80% of the below sea level city. It was believed that 150-160K houses were destroyed or submerged; 530 sewage treatment plants were not inoperable. But with the growing concerns like the gas leaks, fires (due to no electricity people were using candles at home), toxic water, diseases spreading by germs and mosquitoes. My advice to them is to LEAVE THE CITY!
